Now working for http://tehskeen.info

I've been chatting with N0tBrakk3n, the awesome man bringing back Tehskeen in the form of http://tehskeen.info , quite a bit lately and I'm pleased to announce a an exciting decision of his. When the new Tehskeen starts running like the old Tehskeen, I will be reporting news for the site. For those of you who remember, I'm basically going to be like djdynamite123 for the new site. I can't wait! I hope everyone is as excited about this as I am!

  1. yay, tehskeen FTW. But seriously, the guy behind the name "NOtBrakk3n" is the real Brakken, right?

Well I think you will do a great job Arikado =D. Hope you will team up with djdynamite :)

  2. Actually, no, N0tBrakk3n is really not brakken. In fact, brakken's already threatened him a little bit over the new site. Brakken is also the reason djdynamite123 isn't going to do news for the site.

On the outside, it may look like tehskeen, but the site is truly going to be operated differently (for the better of course).

  3. Your plate's getting full, isn't it Arikado? Moderating WiiBrew Forums, trying to hack into Twitter accounts, and now news reporting for tehskeen.info... Demasiado para ti...o no?

  4. The WiiBrew Forums have finally slowed down quite a bit lately. I've also appointed some moderators to help me with all of the work. They honestly don't take up that much of my time anymore. My extra time will probably go to the new tehskeen.

Also, I'm not getting paid or anything like that so I'll really only be posting when I'm A)In school - I haz lotz of free time in there - and B)When I'm burned out from coding and have nothing to write about on this blog.

So you should end up seeing more of me in new places and not notice a decline in me in other places. If it does get to be too much, I'll certainly adjust accordingly. But right now I have time where I have nothing to do so now I have something to do!

  5. Brakken decided to shut down the site and move on, did he give any reason for his reaction to NotBrakk3n's initiative? Is it just the choice to be so similar in name and content? If so....why bother with the tehskeen name at all? A good site with similar content to the old tehskeen does not exist, and if NotBrakk3n came up with a new URL with great content people would find it, love it, and he would be the "father" of something great (if not greater) than tehskeen without burning any bridges. (I would loose the name NotBrakk3n too!)

  6. Actually, Brakk3n killed his site by accident. He had no way to restore it. So he decided to give up and move on.

I've been playing with the new tehskeen site and I assure you Andy that all of your fears will be assuaged pretty soon. It looks and feels like the old tehskeen and we promise to bring you more content then tehskeen was around the end as well as a larger variety of content then they ever did before. I can't for N0tBrakk3n and I to sure you all what we've (but mostly him) been working so hard on very soon!

  7. I have no doubt it can and will be great. I'm just not seeing the need to keep the tehskeen name at all. The content will drive the popularity, not the name. Granted....probably don't want it to be skeensucksballs.com, but I'm sure a cool name can be thought of without screwing around with someone elses "IP".

Heck....if we are starting a vote. skeeners.com is available.

  8. I think this is stupid trying to get hits from a dead site by reproducing the same look/content, it's not only lame but the laziest stance when wanting to be "part of the scene", I wouldn't be so proud if I were you

Better start something new and forget about tehskeen, it belongs to the past now.

  9. Tehskeen was THE best site for hacking and homebrew of all kinds. As I've said before (and N0tBrakk3n too) this isn't an exact duplicate, it's just something very similiar. What made tehskeen inferior in some people's eyes (unecessary drama, lack of some hacking support) will be fixed in our version of it. Also, we're considering an improved color scheme and using better software to power the site.

  10. The problem is that actually, there isn't much on that site except BIG donation buttons everywhere and yes, THIS is lame, you don't start a new website by asking donations using a formerly popular website name to raise your funds.

This does not look serious, it seems like that Nobrakken guy (who is this anyway ? what has he done before ?) is just another one of these kids who want to be part of the "scene" and think it's enough to have the head fool of "awesome" ideas.

  11. @Anonymous (Feb 3),
I personally have no problem with a "kid" that has a head full of awesome ideas. These kids (and I am long since a kid) have some fantastic ideas and work hard to see those ideas into reality. My only comment and concern is the piggy backing onto names that someone else (in this case the person who "owns" them) obviously doesn't really want used.
I still think that the names tehskeen and Brakken should be abandoned. A new site with a new name and new people with new names should be developed. This new site can certainly be influenced by tehskeen and people will come (if you build it they will come) solely because there is no site that did what tehskeen did out there to fill the gap.
Honestly guys...I never heard of tehskeen until I saw a blog entry from Arikado. The new site will spread word of mouth (blog, email, etc) and be well received if the content is good and the community active. Create something new...not a sudo copy of a once great site. Use that once great site as a template for what was good about it and thats all.

No matter what you decide, I wish you guys luck getting it up and running. The content on that old site was the perfect mix I was looking for...I'll be happy to have something back whatever direction you take.

Please recheck the site kthnx bibi. Also, I've been working on a private version of it with N0tBrakk3n for a long time. Speaking of him, who cares who he is? I assure you he's going to be running a website much better than tehskeen.

  13. I never knew about this site either until Arikado's blog post, but as I look through what others have said about this site, it sounds GREAT! I will definitely join as soon as it's open.

Just one little suggestion/request could you please make it mobile friendly, so mobile web browsers (like Mobile Safari)can load the pages faster then alot of other websites?

    ReplyDelete
  14. @arikado: we will see
until that, we can read on the WIP page that the first goal was to "get the donation button working" because "it's a pain in the ass"... I can't wait the final result, lol

the problem is not with kiddies having ideas, the problem is when they are teasing their "projects" way before they have something serious to show, then eventually abandon it when they realize it's not so easy as they initially expected, it's very common in the "wii scene" as far as I've seen.

And again, using the name "tehskeen" and its layout/logo is lame and useless, tehskeen is DEAD and belongs to the past, not to us, there aren't any need to revive it other than trying to take easy benefits of its former popularity.

For gode sake, please be a little creative and do something original.

  15. I enjoy reading the comments, please keep them comming. tehskeen is only dead to those who want it to be. I then "Q" the music of Jay-Z and wipe the dirt of my shoulder. The internets will speak for itself. I'm not one to "break disks" and move on with a text paragraph. :-p

  16. @Crisco, Yes, I will have to look into WAP. Thank you for the suggestion.

  17. make your own website ya faggot. i mean seriously this looks like junior high pc class practice.

if your such hot shit than make your own site. dont steal someone elses success.

ps. your sneak peek looks like shite. youve been diligently working on this for how long and yet you have some crappy website that looks like its 95% a template you just filled in, and probably is, and you cant even come up with your own logo?!?

i might not have been a huge fan of tehskeen, but who in their right mind would be a fan of a tehskeen imposter site.

arikado your name is pretty respectable as it its right now. dont through it away on this nonesense.

  18. That was our first build of the site so we could say, "Hey, we've got something that functions like tehskeen. Now we just need to make it look nice." We've gotten an original logo now and N0tBrakk3n is working on modifying the template (yes, we were using the basic default color scheme and looks in the one in the picture).

  19. @Anonymous, see.... the spirit of tehskeen is still alive :-) Do you have any homebrew I can showcase when I put the site live? Arikado's name is respected from the hard work Arikado does.
